|
The purpose of this study was to investigate the influences of elderly education on life satisfaction. We focused on the effect of social support and self-esteem in the relationship between elderly education and life satisfaction. The subjects of the study were 302 elders participating in the elder education. The results were as follows; First, the degrees of satisfaction about the education, self-esteem, social support and life satisfaction were very high among the elderly people attending at the elder education. Second, the elders received the material support more compared to emotional support by family. In addition to family, the elderly received the emotional support by friends similarly. Third, the elder education satisfaction increased the life satisfaction indirectly through social support and self-esteem. Namely, elder education satisfaction increased the social support and improved social support increased the self-esteem and life satisfaction in the end. In conclusion, we identified the social support and self-esteem has the mediating effect between elder education and life satisfaction.
